Recognizing our exalted status will allow us to understand that any desire we have to improve are natural to our people. Hashem hides in a hidden place because we have lost our holy Jewish pride. When we have become so tolerant of our personal Mitzrayim (Egypt) that we don't even want to escape anymore. What is it that we're living in that we try so hard to make the nations of the world like us? Why are Jews embarrassed about and try to remember that Hashem said: atah bechartanu (you have chosen us); we have lost faith in ourselves as a nation. Our nation must be filled with national pride and a feeling that we, as a nation, are worthy of a national, divine relevation. It's not merely that we should be "melamed zchus" (judge favorably) on the Jewish nation, but that we are - at our very core - holy! |
