The holiday of Tu B'Shevat is a New Year for the trees. The root of all our suffering comes from the sin of eating that which was forbidden. The month of Shevat is a month to work on our eating. "The tzaddik (righteous individual) eats to satiate his soul and the bellies of the wicked always feel empty." The fruit's entire reason for existence is for the act of consumption. In every food there is a physical and a spiritual aspect. The taste in a food is it's soul. Why are fruits more special than vegetables?
