There are two types of geula (redemption). One is b'ita (in its time), while the other one is achishena (I will accelerate it). The b'ita is a slow process, enclothed in the workings of nature and the world. It involves the redeemed putting his own energy into making the geula happen. The achishena is a quick and miraculous event where the redeemed is essentially passive. The number ten represents man's effort in restoring the original Oneness. Parents can raise their children in these two ways, and thus can build or push away their children depending their approach. Rosh Chodesh Shvat and Tu B'Shvat teach us how to help our children grow, like trees. Tu B'Shvat is a special day to daven for our children. |
