The prototype of the Tzaddik (righteous Jew) became the builder after Baal Shem was niftar (died). Tzaddik stressed transformation of values: simple devotion, serve G-d with joy, rediscovery of all pervasive presence of G-d. Tzaddik was the new type of leader that Chasidim required. Tzaddik is the "pipe" that transmits the "life force" to this world. Tzaddik lives in state of attachment to Hashem and stands between the heavens and earth. Tzaddik stands at every point between opposites longing to reunite them. Tzaddik has an intimate connection with everyone. Tzaddik is the Holy Temple.
