We have to unpeel this world to see Hashem, even at the holy places. Tzaddikim see Elokus (G-dliness) because they have worked very hard on it. The klipah nogah still has a light to it. Middos tovos (natural good character traits) exist in the klipah nogah, and we have them in our nefesh behamis (animal soul).
