P. 93. Olam HaBa (the World to Come) is not a location above, and Olam HaZeh (this world) is not a location below. We look at the world from the spiritual context of aliyah (elevation) and yeridah (descent). An aliyah is the movement towards greater spiritual refinement. On Shabbos, the worlds are given an aliyah. When we make a bracha, the subject of the bracha is given an aliyah. Olam Haba is the aspect of reality where Hashem's presence is not concealed. The more a person makes the neshama their focus, the higher the level they are living on. Neshamos 'come down' to the wedding chuppah of their descendants and to the synagogue on Yom Kippur.
